Persuasive Writing

In class, I ahev been learning new things like emotive language and sentence types. These topics help me make my writing sound more efficient or interesting.

Hi Mum,

As you already know that I have survival night on Thursday 1st December 2022, which would be held in Waima forest and I would just want to notify you that I really want to go, but first listen to what I have to say.

The first reason I think I should be able to go is I will have a superb experience. I’ll also have a magical time going swimming, bombing, roasting marshmallows, and star gazing. I will be connecting with the people around me and it would be great to help me develop my collaboration with others and not just the people I know. This will also be an outdoor experience, so this could give me a chance to try something in the wild because I’m usually not outdoors. Some challenges have been arranged, that class can engage in or at least try, this could be the time when I participate in something different.

A second reason that I should go to Survivor is I will be learning remarkable skills. The skills I’ll be learning are building a shelter, bush safety, bird monitoring, and making a fire. I’ll also be hiking up a 2-hour mountain, which will help with my health and fitness. Don’t worry you're probably thinking that it is too dangerous, but there are trustworthy adults, that will make sure we are all safe, I will work smarter not harder plus you won’t have me around the house and I have to cook my own food, also I don’t want to be missing out on an event like this.

That is why you should let me go to Survivor 2022 it would be a real advantage for me, so please let me go on this adventurous trip! This will help me physically and mentally I could also hang out with my dearest friends. It would be a pleasure if you said yes. Please, mum! Let me go!

Yours sincerely,

Your daughter.

Bike Day

In class, we had to work on an information report about a bike-ready program, everyone was able to make a dissicion whether they would want to work independently or with a partner. I had a partner: Kobe
On a fine balmy day at Kaikohe Christian School, Years 5-8 students had a bike day program. This was an outside venue where everyone gathered to learn about the importance of being safe on a bike. Years 7-8 were the first on Tuesday 18th of October, and years 5-6 went two days later on Thursday 20th. There were three instructors: Gwen, Sam, and Shay.

What was the purpose of the day?

This was an opportunity for young, intelligent students to build their confidence in riding a bike, and enjoy engaging with each other.

How the day ‘played out
The day was planned out well, and it was prosperous. Sam called out the student's name and Shay sorted everyone from tallest to shortest, talking about how to put on a helmet properly, and also how to have a dependable balance and ride slowly. Then Sam taught everyone A B C D E Q and she did an example of what it meant showing the years 7-8 what to do. “All right everyone line up!” Shane called out. Everyone raced to their spots and started with a lap around the field and playground. One by one they single-filed following each other at a slow and steady pace. After, there was a challenging game to test people’s unique slow-riding skills, when they were told that they were playing floor is lava, but on bikes, everyone shouted with excitement. “The last man standing wins!” Sam shouted. The years 7-8 were having a blast and were all enjoying themselves.

Conclusion

The day concluded with riding freely over ramps and giving the constructors a high five for all the good listening and good work that the year 5-8 had done.

The Three Servant Parable

This week we read about the parable of the three servants and we had to summarize about the story.

This is about three servants earning money from their master, who left to travel to rely on his servants to use the talents they were given. The first servant had 5 talents, the second servant had two, and the third servant only had one. Each of them had to have the ability to use their money. Two of the servants doubled the amount they were given, but the third servant buried his earnings into the ground and gave it back. The master was incensed, so the servant was punished severely.

Something that taught me is that we all have different gifts or talents that we develop, or learn about. Some talents can be seen by what people do with their physical bodies while others are seen in ones thinking capacities. All talents were given to us by God, so we should not waste time or be lazy with our talents, but serve others and God. For example, Bodily-kinesthetic intelligence is my strongest talent.

Limerick

In class, we have been learning about limericks, different poems, and features. The class had to choose a person they know and write a poem about them.

In class, I learned about limerick poems. They are poems that rhyme and can have 5 lines, the first two sentences have to rhyme then you change the third and fourth sentences because they can't rhyme with the first and second sentences, then you finish the fifth sentence.

Kobe:

I once met a girl from Kaikohe

She always said kahore

And her name was Kobe

Who knew nobody

That is my friend I met from Kaikohe
